Summary:
I am a multi-disciplinary individual with deep experience across a variety of fields relevant to crafting a joyful, engaging, and rigorous classical classroom. I am finishing my second year of teaching 4th grade at Concordia Classical Academy in Walton, KY—a charge which has brought me tremendous delight! I was raised in a Christian home with a classical education, and having such a foundation has instilled in me a passion for life-long learning. It is thrilling to understand with ever-increasing depth that all things to be learned are rooted inextricably in the truth of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and his salvific work on our behalf.
My faith in Christ informs all that I do, and my love for my Savior grows as I continue to study his Word and go to him in prayer. Christ is truly the cornerstone upon which the Christian must build his life. My students are taught from day one that God is their Good Father and that his Word is true. In every subject, we discuss the Bible, God’s character, and how even things like math or spelling are things worthy of awe: they reflect the mind of our Creator, and they are gifts he has given us as those made in his image!
My classroom is organized and tastefully decorated, and my classes often feature hands-on projects and engaging and memorable activities. I use many costumes and themed days to bring subjects to life! Some favorite themed days include a Colonial Tea Party, Lawmen and Outlaws Day, Greek Festival, the Psalm 8 Astronomy project, and our Pilgrim Journey (a day dedicated to our study of ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’). In addition to traditional classical methods, I utilize recitation, Scripture memory, play-acting, and art to engage and assess student understanding.
My classroom disciplinary system is a miniature version of a typical upper-school house system. Students are placed in one of three houses and compete together for the end-of-year trophy. They earn points through academic excellence and behavior which aligns with our Code of Conduct, and they lose points with behavior out of line with that code. The winning class also gets to decorate their classroom with their house colors at the end of the year for the Virtue Banquet I host. At the Virtue Banquet, I present to each student a “virtue” that I have seen them exhibit throughout the year, and they are charged to continue to pursue Christ as their model for virtue. We also reflect upon the year and how the Lord answered our year’s daily prayers, of which I keep a meticulous record. This system has proven very character-building and successful.
The Bible makes it clear how the Savior loves and cherishes children. I desire more than anything to point students to the One who loves them and to work alongside families to help build the foundations that will propel these precious young people into the world with a well-rounded, Christ-focused classical education founded in the truth of the Word.

Additional Qualifications: Most of my bachelor’s degree was completed in Elementary Education, though I ultimately graduated with an American History degree. I completed numerous hours of student teaching, and I was on the ambassador board for the Department of Education at Kansas State University.
I was head of multiple clubs and student groups when I attended middle and high school in a classical setting, and I co-lead the upper school house system program at my current school.
I have over 10 years of experience working with children and demonstrated adaptability, enthusiasm, and energy for teaching and caring for children and students.
I have been selected for and participated in multiple sponsored trips to American historical sites of significance to be trained in primary source research, historic document curation, and living history methods. I have also been on multiple history-based excursions through Europe and Israel and have come back with knowledge, photos, and visual aids that have been utilized in my classroom.
Additional Experience with CCE: Familiar with Abeka, BJU, Memoria Press, Veritas, Shurley Grammar, Saxon Math, Beautiful Feet, and Hillsdale curricula.
Hobbies, Interests, and Family: I enjoy Scripture study, theology, ballet, teaching ballet, theater, art, reading, leading Bible study, serving in local ministries, decorating, sewing, history (specifically primary source research i), traveling, laughing, and cooking/baking!
I am convicted that, as a single woman, my time should be devoted to the care of the Body and to serving the community in Christ’s name. I spend a lot of my time working with local ministries or discipling younger women from Answers in Genesis or my church. I also spend time providing childcare to families in my church and school so that they are able to have date nights! I also host people in my home for dinner or as overnight guests (i.e. family, friends, friends of friends who would like to visit the Ark Encounter and need a place to stay).

Persuasion – Jane Austen
The Pilgrim’s Progress – John Bunyan
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
Calvin’s Institutes – John Calvin
Top 3 Books: All of the following books are missionary biographies/autobiographies. I have recently been deeply moved and convicted by the stories of missionaries who have done kingdom work and suffered particular hardship for the sake of Christ. I ask God daily to grow me to be such a woman as were Ten Boom, Carmichael, and Aylward. I desire to have a Christ focus no matter the task I am given, big or small. As a single woman, these books have sanctified me, drawn me nearer to God, and enriched my understanding of how I might serve him with my heart, head, and hands.

Theology: I believe in the necessity and belief in the truth of Christ’s birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection as the only means of salvation.
I believe I am a sinner to the core who has been gloriously redeemed by my loving Savior! Praise the Lord for his mercy and grace!
I adhere to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and, for simplicity’s sake, can say I align with the Five Points of Calvinism: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints. I believe that salvation/regeneration is entirely the work of the Spirit, that he is living and active within the believer, and that we are called by God to (by the power of the Spirit) preach the Gospel to the world and make disciples of all nations. I have a very strong bend towards every-day and courageous evangelism, as I believe we are both commanded and enabled by God to do it.
Belief in the inerrancy of Scripture?: Yes
Notes on Scripture: I believe that the Bible is the holy and perfect Word written by authors whose words were divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are God’s primary way of communicating with his people. It is a living and active Word which is always sufficient for our exhortation, reproof, and growth. Through the reading of the Word and the supernatural interpretation of the indwelling Spirit, the Christian is able to understand more fully the character of God as he studies throughout his life.
Additional classical training: I was brought up under a variety of classical curricula from age 4 through high school. I also continued on in Honors Humanities as part of my bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University where I got to study some new Great Books and familiar ones from a secular perspective. This helped me to put my classical Christian upbringing into action which was tremendously beneficial.
I have been to two Memoria Press conferences in Louisville, KY and continue to receive on-going training through my current employer.
Why I want to teach at a classical school: A classical Christian education is the best method for training up future generations to be able to think independently, reason well, and express themselves with clarity and confidence. Wisdom and knowledge, whose origins are from the Christian God, are taught to be cherished. A classical education equips students to engage with the culture in which they find themselves from a Biblical worldview. Students are taught to seek truth, not simply good grades. They are taught to engage with content from a Christ-centered perspective, to chew over ideas, and to use critical thinking to find solutions to life’s problems. Through instruction in things like Latin, Great Books, and Logic, interest and passion for learning are cultivated as well as a deep understanding of the “why” of things. I have been greatly influenced by a classical education in my own life. I have seen it transform students’ hearts and minds. I would consider it a privilege to play a part for many years to come!
Final thoughts: I am passionate, energetic, joyful, and enthusiastic about teaching! I am an adaptable, hard-working, and dynamic person who enjoys to learn and learns things quickly. I do nothing in halves. I am unique, fun, colorful, and lively, and I love to be a part of a team and foster relationships with work peers. Though my resume is a bit quirky, I believe my unique background has equipped me beautifully for classical teaching. It has given me so much experience and knowledge, and my faith has been refined through all that the Lord has given me to accomplish!
