Summary:
I am graduating with my Master of Divinity in May, and I am passionate about entering into classical education. Education and discipleship are nearly synonymous in my mind, which is what makes classical education so helpful. As I was in youth ministry, I saw how much the educational system you are in form your mind and will towards Christ. Because of that, I see a classical education as one of the most useful ways to form the minds and hearts of young children to be intelligent, loving, and free followers of Christ.
I am academically trained in Biblical Studies, Greek,Theology, and Church History. I have a personal interest in history, philosophy, and literature. Though I have no training in Latin, I would love the opportunity to seek professional development to teach Latin one day.
Classical education is something I would like to dedicate the rest of my life to teaching and learning. I would love the opportunity to learn more about classical education and gain experience in the context of a classical Christian school.

Top 5 Books: Augustine – “Confessions”
Augustine – “On Christian Teaching”
Homer – “The Illiad”
Plato – Republic
Top 3 Books: Josef Pieper – “Only the Lover Sings” – I heard it recommended in multiple circles for understanding the discontents in our world of constant consuming, while also giving insight into the philosophy of art and music.
Augustine – “On Christian Teaching” – I wanted to learn more about Augustine’s understanding of Scripture and how he views the classics from a Christian perspective.
C.S. Lewis – “The Magicians Nephew” – I never read the series as a child and just finished it!
Most Influential Books: Augustine – “Confessions”
J.I. Packer – “Knowing God”
Neil Postman – “Amusing Ourselves to Death”
Preferred Denomination Type: Baptist
Current Church: Edgefield Church
Current Church Denomination: Southern Baptist
Current Church Membership: Yes
Current Church Attendance: Weekly
Support of Traditional Marriage: Yes
Theology: I would say I am going through a bit of a theological shift right now so it is hard to say, but I am currently in the reformed baptist tradition.
Belief in the inerrancy of Scripture?: Yes
Notes on Scripture: I believe inerrancy means that the Holy Scriptures are completely true and infallible in all that they intend to convey in the original manuscripts. Therefore, the Bible is the surest foundation and interpreter of all human knowledge.
Additional classical training: No formal classical training besides reading of books on the topic.
Why I want to teach at a classical school: I desire to enter a career into classical education where I can use the rest of my life to form the minds and hearts of the next generation to be intellectually formed, but more importantly, to know and love God.
Final thoughts: I will graduate (Lord willing) with my Master of Divinity in May of 2027. I would love to start teaching in a classical school starting in the fall of 2027!
