Position desired: Administrator, Head of School

Willing to relocate to: West
Summary:
I have 15 years experience working in classical Christian education. I spent 10 years at The Ambrose School in Meridian, ID, as both a teacher and an administrator, and I have been the Head of School at Greenleaf Friends Academy for the past 5 years. In my time at GFA, I led the conversion of the school to a classical Christian school including establishing it as an ACCS member school with the intent to seek accreditation. At both schools I have overseen growth as well as the transformation of the student culture.
I have a deep love for classical Christian education and have spent the last 15 years learning its complexities. I firmly believe in the cultivation of virtue because I have seen it in the lives of my own daughters and in those of current and former students. In particular, my time at GFA has been especially formative as it required me to be able to articulate the mission and vision of cCe to a school community that was largely skeptical of it. I have been able to do that and the school has grown by 25% in my 5 years there while also becoming increasingly classical and Christian. I have led a total transformation of the school, including implementing student uniforms and a House program, turning over the faculty with mission-aligned teachers, rebranding the school including a full marketing campaign with a website remodel and marketing videos; however, of all my work at GFA, I am most proud of the transformation that the student culture has experienced and the excellent classical Christian education that the current generation of GFA students has received.
I have a handful of gifts that have served me well as Head of School. God has gifted me with a constant and measured personality; I rarely have bad days and I rarely react emotionally to stimuli. I have a passion for building, especially curriculum, programs, and faculty and admin teams. I have a gift for imagining excellence, casting vision, creating and communicating structures that others can execute on, and seeing programs and projects through to the end. I am a skilled communicator who has worked hard on my ability to articulate the majesty of classical Christian education to others in a way that is powerful and persuasive. Finally, my wife and I have a deep love for the special communal aspects of a K-12 classical Christian school, and I have a gift and a passion for building a flourishing community.
I also have a handful of weaknesses. When I do not see a clear path forward, I can be patient and slow to act to a fault. This can frustrate others who expect a quick solution to complex problems. As my wife would gladly tell you, I am also tactful to a fault. Sometimes I can be so concerned with offending others that my message gets lost in the delivery. And finally, my natural disposition is opposed to melodrama – I often joke that drama makes me break out in a rash – and this can frustrate others who traffic in high drama.

Additional classical training: While I Boise State University I studied under Dr. Charles Odahl. BSU did not have a classics program, but I essentially mirrored a classics degree by taking a full slate of western civilization courses including history, literature, philosophy, and multiple years of Latin and one year of Greek grammar. Since then I have attended multiple classical Christian education trainings and workshops at ACCS and SCL conferences and at various schools (The Ambrose School, The Oaks, etc.) and have conducted many trainings at both The Ambrose School, Greenleaf Friends Academy, and at ACCS and SCL conferences.
Why I want to teach at a classical school: I devoted my life to classical Christian education and I believe in it fully.
