Summary:

Experienced classical educator and curriculum writer seeking teaching or administrative opportunities within a classical Christian school committed to robust humanities instruction and joyful formation. With extensive experience teaching Latin, literature, writing, history, and study skills to middle-school students, I bring a strong background in grammar-based language study, story-driven instruction, and the cultivation of wonder through the liberal arts.

I have developed and taught full Latin sequences through participles and beyond, emphasizing mastery of morphology, syntax, and reading skills anchored in classical texts. I integrate Charlotte Mason’s methods—including picture study, narration, copywork, and living books—into language and humanities instruction to promote attention, imagination, and long-term retention. My work includes designing cross-disciplinary lessons that connect ancient astronomy, early scientific history, and classical culture with Scripture, literature, and art.

In addition to classroom teaching, I am the author of the Invictus Classical Press Memory Guide series, a multi-volume curriculum that supports schools and families in cultivating recitation, memory work, and the arts of attention. I regularly prepare workshops and conference sessions for educators on topics such as learning styles and study habits for middle-schoolers, student formation, picture study as a tool for language acquisition, and practical strategies for building confident, capable learners in grades 6–8.

My teaching philosophy centers on nurturing virtue, curiosity, and a love of truth, goodness, and beauty. I aim to equip students with the habits that make scholarship possible: careful observation, thoughtful narration, consistent practice, and delight in well-crafted language. I value clear communication with families, collaboration with colleagues, and a school culture shaped by Scripture and historic Christian orthodoxy.

I am seeking a role in which I can continue to support classical Christian education through teaching, curriculum development, academic leadership, or a combination thereof. I welcome opportunities to serve in schools that desire rigorous academics, rich liturgical and spiritual formation, and a coherent K–12 vision aligned with the classical Christian tradition.

Interests and Philosophy

Hobbies, Interests, and Family: Outside the classroom, I enjoy studying Latin, theology, history, science, and literature. I love creating living, narrative-style lessons and picture-study materials, and I spend much of my free time writing and developing curriculum for Invictus Classical Press. I attend a local sci-fi/fantasy/apocalyptic book club and enjoy meeting to discuss the issues presented in the novels. I am also an avid gardener and naturalist and spend a lot of time out in nature.
My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have four children, all of whom were classically educated. Andrew (24) is married and lives in Houston, TX. Sophia (23) is a junior at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Luke (21) is a junior at Concordia University, Austin, and Rachel (18) is a freshman at Grove City College, PA.

Top 5 Books: The Republic
The Consolation of Philosophy
The Oresteia
Fahrenheit 451
The Pearl

Top 3 Books: The Medieval Mind of C.S. Lewis, by Jason Baxter. I listened to a podcast of the author talking about the book and was interested to read it. It was fantastic!
A Canticle for Leibowitz, by Walter Miller. This is the book club selection for this month. Very strange book, but I can’t stop thinking about it.
Fast, Feast, Repeat, by Gin Stephens. I am interested in the health benefits of intermittent fasting and this book was recommened to me. It’s life-changing!

Most Influential Books: Jany Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. At 18 years old and newly saved, this book radically changed the way I looked at relationships and the importance of godly character. When faced with wordly temptation, I aften ask myself, “What would Jane do?”
The Republic, by Plato. “It’s all in Plato, all in Plato: Bless me, what do they teach them at these schools?” I come back to this book often. The idea of the well ordered society and soul permeates my worldview.
Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maude Montgomery. This was the very first novel I read of my own choosing (5th grade). I am forever indebted to Anne Shirley, who taught me to embrace and grow my intellect and imagination and never let go of wonder. When I am out in nature, I channel Anne to name the beauty around me.

Additional Information

Additional classical training: I have done a lot of classical training on my own, but I am also provisionally certified by ACCS.

Why I want to teach at a classical school: I want to work in a classical Christian school because I believe deeply in an education that forms the whole person, mind, heart, and character, through truths that have stood the test of time. Classical education offers students the wonder of encountering great stories, rich language, and the order and beauty woven into God’s world. It cultivates habits of attention, imagination, and virtue rather than simply delivering information. My own teaching, writing, and curriculum work are rooted in this tradition, and I am passionate about helping students love learning, grow in wisdom, and understand their place in God’s story. Serving in a classical school allows me to join a community committed to truth, goodness, and beauty, and to support families in raising thoughtful, joyful, and grounded young people.
