Summary:
I am a French teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in French from Middlebury College in Vermont. I am currently working on a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa with an anticipated graduation date of May, 2027. I have graduated two homeschool students and have two homeschool students still at home. I founded, directed. and tutored a Classical Conversation community from 2013-2018 where I promoted classical education to parents in Lawton, Oklahoma. I have also taught ESL both online and at the university level for over five years. Most recently, I have taught French full-time at a college-preparatory private school for four years in Rockford, Illinois. As my husband is a pastor, we are relocating to Cedar Falls, Iowa, and I am looking for teaching opportunities either in Iowa or online.

Hobbies, Interests, and Family: My husband and I have four kids ages 14 to 21. I am Canadian American, so my family and I love to spend our summer vacations in Quebec. For the last 5 years, most of our family have assisted L’eglise chretienne St. Georges de Beauce in running their English for Kids Bible camp. I love traveling, and had the opportunity last summer to spend two weeks in Senegal on a French teacher immersion tour. We also have enjoyed supporting international students wherever we are, often having them over for dinner, or taking them to the zoo or to the airport. We also love the outdoors and hiking.
Top 5 Books: I am currently leading my French III-V students in a study of L’Etranger by Camus, and led a study of Tartuffe by Moliere last year. My specialty is French literature, but my love is Russian literature. It has been more than five years, but I’ve read most of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. I also enjoy reading historical biographies of the Russian Czars and their families. I am not as well read in British, American, or classical literature, but I love the Brontes and what I have read of Oscar Wilde, to name a few.

Theology: I am historically reformed, holding to the five points of Calvinism and covenant theology. I hold to the Heidelberg and Westminster Confessions as a faithful summary of the teachings of scripture.

Notes on Scripture: God’s word conveys His will to us perfectly and provides all that we need for life and godliness. It tells us all that we need to know about who Christ is and what He has done.

Why I want to teach at a classical school: I firmly believe that a truly Christian education prepares our students to live for Christ in a world that denies Him. I also firmly believe that a classical education trains students how to think and gives them tools that have truly been lost in our utilitarian society.
