Theology: I grew up in Churches of Christ and served in 3 of its congregations for 10 years. I no longer attend a COC but appreciate many of its theological leanings. I consider myself quite orthodox in terms of traditional and historical Christianity after my 4 degrees and appreciate a church that takes a learning and humble posture towards Scripture’s meaning and our continual efforts to try to understand it the way the original hearers did. I adhere to all 12 tenants of the Nicene Creed and foundational teachings of Chrisitianity.

Belief in the inerrancy of Scripture?: Yes

Notes on Scripture: Scripture is God’s revelation of his will to mankind and it is our main source for doctrine and living as Christians and Christian communities.

Additional Information

Additional classical training: I haven’t had any specific classical training in the past, but would likely pick it up quite easily.

Why I want to teach at a classical school: I want to work for a classical Christian school because I value an education that forms both the mind and the character of students. I am passionate about helping young people pursue truth, wisdom, and virtue through meaningful learning rooted in faith and thoughtful discussion. A classical Christian environment encourages students not only to grow academically, but also spiritually and morally, and I would be excited to contribute to a community that seeks to cultivate critical thinking, strong character, and a love of God and learning.

Final thoughts: I am a passionate follower of Christ and teacher who loves to mold students hearts and minds through teaching in the school context; whether that is through history, English, or Bible. My expertise is Bible, but I find many avenues in the humanities to bring in theological discussion. I want to prepare students for college when they will be challenged and solidify many of their beliefs.
