Summary:
I am a Christian educator and educational leader seeking an administrative or academic leadership opportunity within a classical Christian school. I hold an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from George Fox University, an M.A. in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics from Talbot School of Theology, and a B.A. in English and Comparative Literature from San Diego State University. I bring more than twenty years of teaching experience across classical K–12 schools, Christian education, and higher education.
I currently teach at a private Christian school outside of Portland, OR and seasonally serve as an online adjunct philosophy faculty member for two universities. My previous experience includes teaching lower and upper-school students at Ridgeview Classical Schools, working in a school-improvement initiative, and teaching philosophy, ethics, logic, religion, and social sciences at several colleges and universities. My broad instructional background also includes literature, grammar, history, science, mathematics, and the classical languages.
My philosophy of education is grounded in Scripture and in the classical pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. I believe education should form the whole person—intellectually, morally, spiritually, and vocationally—and should help students develop wisdom, Christian character, disciplined habits of thought, and a desire to serve God and others.
I am especially interested in positions such as Head of School, principal, upper-school leader, academic dean, or curriculum and instruction director. I would also welcome a leadership role that includes teaching humanities, philosophy, ethics, logic, literature, or related subjects. I hope to serve a Christ-centered school committed to strong academics, faithful discipleship, faculty development, coherent curriculum, and meaningful partnership with families. Additional Experience with CCE: My most extensive experience with classical education came through Ridgeview Classical Schools in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I taught from 2009 to 2014 across both the lower and upper divisions. My teaching assignments included third-grade Singapore mathematics; fifth-grade Greek, Latin, logic, grammar, literature, and science; and upper-school ethics. Working across grade levels gave me a practical understanding of the classical sequence, the integration of academic disciplines, language-rich instruction, close reading, logical reasoning, and the formation of students through enduring ideas and texts. I also coached soccer and participated in the broader life of the school community.
During this period, I also served with the Ridgeview Classical Institute as a Project School Turnaround Assistant. In that role, I supported efforts to apply classical educational principles within a school-improvement setting and gained valuable insight into how curriculum, instruction, leadership, faculty support, and school culture work together.
Although Ridgeview was a public classical school rather than a Christian institution, the experience provided me with a strong foundation in classical pedagogy. In my subsequent work at Damascus Christian Schools, I have been able to place that classical emphasis on truth, goodness, beauty, virtue, and intellectual formation within an explicitly biblical understanding of God, humanity, and the purpose of education.

Theology: I would describe my theological leanings as historically orthodox and broadly evangelical. I affirm Scripture as the inspired and authoritative Word of God; one God in three Persons; humanity created in God’s image; the reality of sin and the Fall; the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ; His atoning death (probably more in line with NT Wright than my mentor William Lane Craig) , bodily resurrection, and promised return; and salvation by grace through faith in Christ. I value the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds as faithful summaries of essential Christian belief and stand within the Protestant tradition; however, my theological outlook is Christ-centered. On secondary doctrinal matters, I seek biblical fidelity, humility, and charity and can work constructively with believers from various orthodox traditions.

Additional classical training: My classical training has been both academic (Literature and Philosophy) and experiential. From 2009 to 2014, I was immersed in classical education at Ridgeview Classical Schools, teaching across the lower and upper divisions. My assignments included third-grade Singapore mathematics; fifth-grade Greek, Latin, logic, grammar, literature, and science; and upper-school ethics. This work developed my experience with classical language instruction, close reading, Socratic discussion, logical reasoning, memorization, integrated curriculum, and the progression from foundational knowledge to reasoned and articulate expression.
As a Project School Turnaround Assistant with the Ridgeview Classical Institute, I also gained experience applying classical principles to curriculum, instruction, school culture, and educational improvement.
Why I want to teach at a classical school: I want to work in a classical Christian school because this model most closely reflects my convictions about the purpose of education. Education should do more than communicate information or prepare students for employment; it should form their intellects, character, imaginations, habits, and loves. The classical tradition gives students the tools of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, introduces them to the Great Conversation, and encourages the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Christianity provides the necessary foundation for that pursuit: Christ is the source of truth, every student bears God’s image, and wisdom should ultimately lead us to love God and our neighbors.
I want to serve in a community where teachers, leaders, families, and churches work together to form students who reason carefully, communicate winsomely, live virtuously, and serve faithfully.
